How our features are sourced, and what we never accept money for.

The short version. We publish two kinds of thing: features our editors commission, and content a brand sponsors. Every sponsored item is labelled. Submissions are free to submit — we will review.
A magazine that wants its readers to trust it owes them a straight answer about how its features are sourced and whether money changes hands. This page is that answer.
Our editors choose a subject and approach them for permission to publish. We ask for their agreement to post. These carry no label.
This is how the magazine is made. Every feature published so far was made this way: we approached each subject for permission to publish.
A brand pays to appear alongside an issue or a series. These are labelled Sponsored or In partnership with, and the sponsor is named. Sponsors do not choose our subjects, see features before publication, or approve editorial text. See Partners.
Nobody in the magazine has paid to appear, and their appearance is not an endorsement of this publication or of anything else we publish.
Every feature published before this policy took effect was commissioned by our editors. We approached each subject for permission to publish.
If you are in that group and would like your feature amended or removed, email beyondtitle@substack.com and we will act on it.
We write from what the subject tells us in their submission and interview, from their own published words, and from public record. We do not invent facts, quotes, or figures. If a claim cannot be supported, it does not go in.
A pull quote is the subject’s own words unless the page says otherwise.
If we get something wrong, tell us at beyondtitle@substack.com. We correct factual errors promptly and add a dated note to the page saying what changed. We do not quietly edit a published feature to change its meaning.
We publish a portrait only where the subject has confirmed they own it or have the photographer’s permission. If you believe we have published an image without the right to do so, email beyondtitle@substack.com and we will take it down while we check.
Where we post a sponsored feature to Instagram, LinkedIn, or YouTube, we label it using that platform’s own paid-partnership tools as well as in the caption.
