1. Who we are

Beyond The Title® is published by BeyondTheTitle. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean that business, which is the controller of the personal information described here.

2. What we collect

When you submit a story

• Your name, job title, company or organisation, and city and country
• Your email address
• Your LinkedIn profile URL, and your Instagram profile URL if you give it
• The portrait photograph you send us
• The note you write about yourself and your work
• Anything else you choose to tell us during the interview or by email

When you visit this site

Our host records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visited. We use this to keep the site working and to understand which stories are being read.

3. Why we use it, and on what basis

• To review your submission — because you asked us to consider your story.
• To produce and publish your feature — to perform the agreement between us, and on the consent you sign before publication.
• To reply to you — because you contacted us.
• To keep the site secure and working — our legitimate interest in running the publication.

Publishing your name, portrait, and story is done on your written consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time (see section 7).

4. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the services we need to run the publication:

• Our website host and email provider
• The social platforms we publish to — currently Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Substack — where your published feature appears

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information if we are legally required to.

5. Where your information goes

We work with providers that store data in several countries, including in the European Union and the United States. Where we transfer your information across borders, we use providers that offer appropriate protection for it.

6. How long we keep it

• If we do not accept your story — we delete your submission and your portrait within 90 days of telling you.
• If we publish your feature — we keep it for as long as the feature remains published, because it is the published work.
• Emails between us — we keep for up to three years.

7. Your rights

You can ask us to:

• Send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correct anything that is wrong
• Delete your information
• Stop using it in a particular way, or object to a use
• Withdraw your consent to publication, which means we unpublish your feature

Email beyondtitle@substack.com and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

8. Unpublishing

If you ask us to unpublish your feature, we remove it from this site and delete it from our own social channels where the platform allows deletion. We cannot recall copies that other people have already downloaded, screenshotted, reshared, or printed, and we cannot remove copies from search engine caches, though those usually clear on their own.

9. Cookies

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy and ask for your agreement first where the law requires it.

10. Children

This publication is for adults and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.

11. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects people who have already submitted, we will email them.
