What we commit to, what you confirm when you submit, and how editorial decisions are made.
Last updated 12 August 2026
The short version. Submitting is free. We decide what to publish. If we accept your story you sign a consent form. We write the feature; you check it for factual errors before it goes out. You can republish your finished feature anywhere, forever.
These terms are between you and BeyondTheTitle, publisher of Beyond The Title®. By submitting a story or using this site, you agree to them.
Submitting is free. A submission is a proposal, not an agreement to publish. We read every submission and reply within 2 days, but we are under no obligation to accept any story, and we do not have to explain a decision.
Once you have signed the consent form, we produce and deliver:
We aim to publish within 30 days of confirming your story. If we are going to take longer, we will tell you.
By submitting, you confirm that:
We write the feature independently. Being featured does not give you approval, favourable treatment, or control over the text.
Before publication we send you the finished feature. You may correct anything that is factually wrong, and we will fix it. We will not remove accurate material because you would prefer it were not published, and we will not add claims we cannot support.
If we cannot agree, either of us may withdraw before publication.
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use your name, job title, portrait, and the information you supply, in order to produce, publish, archive, and promote your feature and the issue it appears in. This licence lasts for as long as your feature is published.
You keep ownership of your story, your name, and your portrait. This licence is not exclusive — you can tell your story anywhere else, at any time.
Once published, you may reproduce and share your finished feature in full, worldwide, indefinitely — on your website, your social channels, in a press kit, in a pitch, or in print. We ask only that you keep the Beyond The Title® masthead on the pages and do not present the feature as though you wrote it.
We keep ownership of the magazine design, layout, typography, and cover template. You may not use those to produce anything else.
You can ask us to unpublish your feature at any time, and we will. See our privacy policy for what unpublishing can and cannot reach.
We may also unpublish a feature ourselves — for example if we find something in it is untrue, or if publication becomes unlawful.
If we publish something factually wrong, tell us at beyondtitle@substack.com and we will correct it promptly and note the correction on the page. See our editorial disclosure.
You are welcome to nominate another person. We will approach them directly, and we will not publish anything about them without their own consent. We do not tell the person who nominated them unless you ask us to.
We produce your feature with care, but we do not promise any particular outcome from it — no level of readership, engagement, press attention, business, or search ranking. Nothing on this site is professional, legal, or financial advice.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited by law.
The text, photographs, design, and the Beyond The Title® mark on this site belong to us or to the people we feature. You may read, link to, and share our pages. You may not republish a feature that is not your own, or use our material to train a commercial model, without asking us first.
We may update these terms. The version that applies to you is the one published when you submitted. We will email you if a change affects a submission already in progress.
